Online sales growth slows to 8% for week ending Oct. 5
Growth in online retail spending slowed for the week ending Oct. 5, increasing only 8% vs. the corresponding week a year ago to $989 million from $918 million, reports comScore Networks Inc.’s Media Metrix division. It’s the lowest year-over-year growth since late August.
By comparison, total retail sales grew 6.2% for the week ending Oct. 4, reports ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate. That week and the preceding week were the strongest back-to-back, year-to-year increases since mid July, ShopperTrak reports.
Online travel spending for the week was up 25% from the same week a year ago, reaching $733 million from $587 million, comScore reports.
