Another eBay breakthrough--a deal with major record label Universal Music
Universal Music Group, the world’s largest music company, has agreed to sell merchandise at eBay.com, including not just music but memorabilia from Universal’s artists and opportunities to meet or interact with the artists.
The store, which launches today, will feature new releases, catalog music, signed instrument, records and lyric sheets, as well as backstage passes and invitations to video filmings. Universal’s first promotion will feature Bon Jovi’s signed guitars and handwritten lyrics, front-row tickets to a Jay-Z concert at Madison Square Garden and a drum lesson from Nickelback drummer Ryan Vikedal.
This is the first agreement between eBay and a major record label. Universal controls 25 record labels around the world.
