Software Oasis joins the m-commerce movement

Mobile downloading of software is spreading. Minneapolis-based Digital River Inc., e-commerce outsource provider, has launched a mobile commerce specialty store for Software Oasis, an electronic software distribution provider.

Located at www.softwareoasis.com, the m-comnerce boutique showcases mobile-ready software applications that can be purchased and downloaded using PDAs. To support the combined stores, Digital River is providing transaction management, digital fulfillment, e-marketing, fraud prevention and customer service. Software Oasis` mobile-ready library includes more than 600 software titles.

Digital River recently started offering mobile downloads of software at OfficeMax.com.

"Because Digital River`s commerce system has multi-channel, multi-platform capabilities, we`ve been able to extend our product and service offering to reach a whole new market with minimal time and expense," said Michael Bernzweig, Software Oasis` marketing director. "By leveraging Digital River`s extensive digital library and the company`s outsourced commerce model, we were able to add an m-commerce store to our site in a day.

"We have a reliable commerce infrastructure, relationships with thousands of software publishers and an extensive digital library that online retailers can leverage to quickly create a low-risk point of entry into the m-commerce market," said Joel Ronning, Digital River`s CEO.
