Web sales at 1-800-Flowers rise 17.4% to $360.9 million
Web sales at 1-800-Flowers.com Inc. grew 17.4% to $360.9 million for the fiscal year ended July 3 from $307.5 million at end of the 2004 fiscal year, the retailer said today. Online sales represented 53.8% of total sales for the year, compared with 50.9% in 2004.
Total sales increased 11% to $670.7 million from $604 million in the year-earlier period. Telephone sales dropped 1.2% to $259.9 million from $263 million in 2004.
Net income for the year totaled $7.8 million, down 80.9% from $40.9 million at year-end 2004.
For the fiscal fourth quarter ended July 3, online sales grew 16.5% to $108.5 million from $93.1 million in 2004’s fourth quarter, the retailer said. Web sales represented 58.3% of total sales for the quarter, compared with 57.6% in the year-earlier period.
Total fourth quarter sales rose 15.2% to record $186.1 million, up from $161.6 million in 2004, the company said. Telephone sales increased 3.3% to $60.3 million from $58.4 million a year earlier.
Net income for the quarter totaled $3.9 million, down 87.2% from $30.4 million in the year-ago quarter.
The retailer added 3.3 million new customers during the year, compared with 3.1 million in 2004. Customer acquisition cost for the year was $18.65, compared with $17.65 in fiscal 2004.
