Scripps Networks Signs with Scene7 to Launch Online Room Planning Tool

Viewers Can Create Dream Rooms From Scratch to Finish

February 21, 2002 -- San Rafael, CA — Scene7, a leading provider of dynamic imaging technologies, today announced an agreement with Scripps Networks to launch a new online room planning tool for Home & Garden Television (HGTV) and DIY — Do It Yourself Network. Scene7`s interactive "Room Planner" will enable viewers to visualize and design their dream rooms online, before physically starting redesign projects.

"This interactive tool will let our visitors take tips and ideas demonstrated in our programming and apply them to their own spaces," said Jim Sexton, director of hgtv.com and DIYnet.com. "Scene7`s sophisticated technology, combined with our resources, gives us a powerful tool that our visitors can easily use in planning their entire home redesign."

Room Planner
Room Planner uses technology from Scene7`s proprietary Infinite Imaging platform to let viewers easily lay out detailed, two-dimensional room plans and visualize how products will fit into those spaces. Features include easy drag-and-drop adjustment of walls, options including split walls and fireplaces, and simple one-click additions of doors and windows. Room Planner also allows viewers to add sized-to-scale furniture to their rooms. Scene7`s smart object orientation will place items in the correct orientation when moved. Room Planner is scheduled to launch spring 2002 on hgtv.com and DIYnet.com.

HGTV and DIY
HGTV, wholly owned by The E.W. Scripps Company (NYSE: SSP), is distributed to nearly 77 million U.S. households. DIY is another of the four cable television networks created by Scripps Networks, an operating unit of The E. W. Scripps Company. DIY focuses on the do-it-yourself enthusiast, providing in-depth demonstrations and tips for home repair, gardening and landscaping, decorating and designing, arts and crafts, automotive and recreation. Distribution for DIY is approaching 10 million U.S. households, with programming distributed in the Philippines and Japan as well.

The network`s companion Web site, DIYnet.com, mirrors the weekly on-air programming schedule, featuring easy-to-use, step-by-step instructions for nearly 7,500 projects, including a detailed online guide to resources, materials and related projects. DIYnet.com users can search the site for any project shown on-air, engage in community bulletin boards and submit do-it-yourself questions to the expert DIY staff.
