Save the Children Re-launches Online Gift Shop

WESTPORT, Conn., May 7, 2004 -- Following the overall change in the look and feel of Save the Children`s website, the organization decided to significantly upgrade its online store with three major objectives:
-- to integrate its point of sale system with its shopping cart
-- to make it easier for customers to find the site through search engines
-- and to maintain a unified look with all parts of the web site.
Integrating the point of sale system and the shopping cart (Retail Pro and Unite U), allows Save the Children to relieve inventory with each order, send automatic confirmations to customers and tie the entire process to UPS shipping.

"The new design is more customer-friendly," said Aggie Stern, manager of multi-channel sales. "The overall look and feel is more inviting. Usability has been improved, with a more efficient search capability that allows our visitors to search for products within the site."

In addition, the revamped site utilizes more search engine friendly page titles that make it easier to find.

The new online strategy for Save the Children`s online Shop includes a more aggressive marketing campaign. Launched in time for Fathers`s Day, the redesigned web site offers a promotion which will run from May 10th through June 20th. Visitors who make a purchase from Save the Children`s online Gift Shop will receive a free Save the Children tie (a $28 value - while supplies last.) Seasonal campaigns will be reinforced with email blasts during the major giving times of the year.
