Amazon gets ready for another Harry Potter frenzy
Harry Potter proves a boon again for Amazon.com Inc. Amazon reports that customers have pre-ordered more than 100,000 copies of the DVD version of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer`s Stone,” set to be released next Tuesday.
The frenzy of orders is similar to the hoopla over the release of the fourth Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, in 2000, when customers pre-ordered 350,000 copies, presenting Amazon with a challenge to deliver them on a Saturday, when the book was available in bookstores.
Amazon says the Harry Potter orders are the biggest DVD pre-order in its history.
