UncommonGoods cuts operating costs to 5%
New York-based specialty gift retailer UncommonGoods cut operating costs to 5% of revenues during May, the cimaopny tells InternetRetailer.com. The company does not disclose revenues but noted that those operating costs are down more than half from 13% of revenues in December 2001.
UncommonGoods also doubled the number of pages in its summer catalog to 64 from 32 over the holidays. Another new feature is a far more automated process for backordered items, which now allows customers to choose to ship backordered items separately or together. Prior to the upgrade, the retailer had to handle these orders manually.
