Return Path To Provide E-mail Change Of Address Service For Postal Service

NEW YORK, NY -- 03/05/2002 -- Return Path, Inc., the leading provider of e-mail change of address services, today announced that it will begin providing ECOA services to the Postal Service.

"Consumers will now be able to manage their physical and online moves in one central location, using MoversGuide.com by the Postal Service, located at www.usps.com," says Brett Matthews, CEO of Imagitas, the company that developed MoversGuide.com with the Postal Service. "Our goal is to provide convenient, accessible, easy-to-use services that our customers both want and need. We understand that people need to stay connected - whether they move to another home or to another Internet Service Provider."

"Return Path`s E-mail Change of Address Service is expected to be integrated into the Postal Service`s web site in March 2002. Return Path ECOA is a natural extension of the Postal Service`s existing Internet Change of Address service, as it provides consumers with a convenient way to notify e-newsletters, web sites and personal contacts of an e-mail address change," said Matthews.

Return Path ECOA helps consumers manage notification of an e-mail address change to contacts and web sites, while helping companies maintain updated customer e-mail lists. A distinction of the Return Path service is that the e-mail address change notifications are only provided to requesting businesses after receiving the consumers` express permission, preventing unsolicited commercial e-mail.

To date, 4.3 million e-mail address changes have been registered with Return Path at www.returnpath.net. The consumer service is growing at the rate of 700,000 new registered address changes per month. More than 120 companies are using the service, among them the American Bar Association, Palm Computing, Pottery Barn and Saks Fifth Avenue. Return Path channel partners include 36 direct and e-mail marketing service bureaus, among them Acxiom® Corporation, DoubleClick Inc., Experian®, and Harte-Hanks.

"When people change residences, they frequently change their e-mail address in addition to their postal address," said Matt Blumberg, Return Path CEO. "By providing Return Path`s e-mail change of address service with the existing Postal Service official change of address process, the entire moving process becomes more convenient and hassle-free for consumers. We`re proud to partner with the Postal Service to offer this service, and believe we will be even better positioned to provide our service to consumers and businesses alike as a result of the relationship."
