New Internet Service Enables Real-Time, Point-of-Entry Address and Phone Verification
Melissa Data launches Data Quality Web Service with 60-day trial
offer. Banks and credit unions are among first users.
Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.-- March 11, 2002-- Data management
services provider Melissa Data today announced the availability of
its new Internet data verification service for real-time batch and
point-of-entry address verification. Data Quality Web Service
utilizes an XML interface, the ideal data integration technology
that provides users of almost any platform -- including Windows,
UNIX, and Macintosh -- an easy solution to achieving quality contact
information.
"Our customers have been asking for real-time verification solutions
and we`re pleased to be able to offer a service they can easily
access 24 hours a day, seven days a week," said Raymond Melissa,
president of Melissa Data. One of the advantages of the Internet
service is that it eliminates the need for software updates required
for other sources of data verification. "There`s absolutely no
maintenance on their part," added Melissa, "and we do all the work."
Real-time data validation at point of entry means that marketers can
verify, correct and enhance the customer data they capture from
their Web sites or from inbound customer service calls.
Addresses matched to USPS database for accuracy and deliverability
Data Quality Web Service matches the address data submitted against
the monthly updates of the U.S. Postal Service`s file of 128 million
deliverable addresses. It returns the verified and corrected records
in a standardized format with ZIP+4, carrier route, and delivery
point codes. It can also append county and time zone information,
address type, congressional district, MSA/PMSA code, and more, to
each address.
The benefits of a clean, accurate database can be measured in
production and profitability. Accurate address information, down to
the ZIP+4 carrier route level, can be linked to valuable geographic
and demographic data for effective target marketing and data mining.
Data Quality Web Service utilizes the resources of four COM objects:
address, phone, name and geocoder. In addition to verifying and
correcting address data, it can also verify, correct and update
telephone area codes, append latitude and longitude to the ZIP+4
level, add census tract and block numbers, parse names, apply
gender, detect vulgar words, and append geographic data linked to a
ZIP Code. Address verification of Canadian records through Canada
Post will be available beginning in June.
Banks and credit unions process thousands of records in real time
"We are 100 percent pleased with every aspect of the Data Quality
Web Service from Melissa Data," said Josh Dennis, executive vice
president, Marketing Solutions, Inc. Based in Birmingham, Ala.,
Marketing Solutions provides Customer Relationship Management
solutions to community banks and credit unions.
Marketing Solutions uses the Melissa Data Internet service to
standardize, verify and CASS-certify between 75,000 and 150,000
records per month for its bank clients. Data is updated
automatically on a nightly basis from the banks` operational
systems. This way, the banks are always working with the most recent
customer data when they generate direct mail letters, coupons, post
cards and call lists.
"The delivery aspect of the Data Quality Web Service is very
strong," added Dennis. "We think that Web services like this are the
wave of the future because they are easy to use and inexpensive."
Introductory offer limited to 60 days, but no limit on records
submitted
In an effort to emphasize the value of obtaining accurate data and
the unlimited potential of a quality database, Melissa Data is
offering a trial period of 60 days with unlimited use, absolutely
free. Once registered, a user can download sample source code to
apply to their application. To register for the trial offer, contact
