EXE Technologies Unveils Enhanced EXceed Software Suite for Collaboration Across the Supply Chain

DALLAS, Texas – March 18, 2002 – Reinforcing its leadership and commitment to providing global supply chain execution software solutions, EXE Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXEE) today introduced its next-generation collaboration solution, the EXceed™ Collaborate Suite. EXceed Collaborate is an open, scalable and intelligent solution set for supply chain partner collaboration.

Comprised of EXceed Sentinel, EXceed Portals, and EXceed Insight, the EXceed Collaborate Suite enables a wide range of Supply Chain Event Management (SCEM), including inventory visibility, product state and quality, and shipment track and trace. By facilitating information sharing across the entire supply chain, the EXceed Collaborate Suite transforms traditional, linear supply chains into integrated supply networks, bringing together suppliers, manufacturers, vendors, customers, and, where applicable, regulatory agencies. The EXceed Collaborate Suite can support the full range of the supply chain execution cycle, and is unmatched in the industry today.

"The EXceed Collaborate Suite brings to fruition EXE`s vision for supply chain execution. The product suite`s extensive SCEM capabilities greatly enhance the power of EXE`s solution for consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing in addition to other industries," said Ken Powell, president and COO of EXE. "Its robust and flexible support for the entire supply chain network makes it valuable for cross-enterprise information that is continuously modified, repurposed, and shared with different centers in the system."

Two of the most significant features in the EXceed Collaborate Suite are the addition of product tracking and quality management.

EXceed Sentinel
Recent recalls of defective consumer products have eroded customer loyalty and increased regulatory agency scrutiny. Today`s consumers demand greater assurance of product safety and quality. EXceed Sentinel integrates existing manufacturing, laboratory, and fulfillment execution systems to enable network-level control of product quality, safeguard end consumers, and preserve brand equity.

EXceed Sentinel manages quality in complex manufacturing and distribution networks and is essential for consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies, especially the food and beverage and pharmaceutical sectors. EXceed Sentinel provides extensive tracking of products through the manufacturing and distribution network by tracing product down to the lot and individual item levels. This high degree of granularity is critical for the efficient identification and isolation of suspect product in the event of a recall.

EXceed Portals
EXceed Portals leverages the accessibility of the Internet to provide supply chain partners real-time access to EXceed WMS inventory data, shipment order information, and advanced shipment notice (ASN) information. EXceed Portals reduces operating costs by removing the burden of providing periodic and one-time snapshots of inventory data to supply chain partners. In addition to checking ASN status, EXceed Portals allows suppliers to add, change, and delete ASN information. Customers can perform similar actions on shipment orders. The EXceed security model has been enhanced to ensure that users can view and act upon only their relevant inventory, order, and ASN information.

EXceed Portals increases order accuracy and enables vendor managed inventory (VMI) practices. Portals is ideal for 3PL environments where inventory owners need visibility to inventory levels and shipment orders. (See today`s separate announcement on EXceed Portals customers.)

EXceed Insight
EXceed Insight provides the vital supply chain event information needed to effectively monitor and analyze supply network activity. By leveraging EXceed Insight`s extensive inventory and order event visibility, companies can gain a comprehensive view of their entire, enterprise-wide supply network.

Problem resolution is costly and increased collaboration and supply chain visibility will lower the frequency of exceptions and reduce the cost of identifying and resolving them. Enhanced visibility allows managers to proactively develop action plans and improve performance tracking and accountability.

All EXceed Collaborate suite products are scheduled for general availability in Q2 2002.
