NCR kiosks talk to PDAs
NCR Corp. is in a beta test of technology that will allow store-based, web-enabled kiosks to communicate with personal digital assistants, Tracy Flynn, vice president of product and solution marketing with NCR's Retail Solutions Division, tells Internet Retailer. While he can't reveal the identity of the retailer involved in the test, Flynn says the test is of technology that allows a shopper to download the general merchandise retailer's weekly specials from a posting on the kiosk to a shopper's PDA. The customer can then refer to the specials as she shops. Other such uses of kiosk/PDA technology could include allowing shoppers to download bridal registries, Flynn says.
