QuickDog Inc., a personalization software company, has introduced visual search and navigation technology. Click the Show Me More button on a product image, and QuickDog's software finds more products like the one being viewed. The technology recommends products similar to the original item in shape, color, pattern and semantic content.
Show Me More can locate products with certain visual characteristics that may be difficult to find using traditional search vehicles. For example, if a consumer is searching for an evening dress and sees a red, strapless, column style she likes, Show Me More will identify all the other dresses in the merchant's assortment that have a similar color and silhouette. Search results are ranked in order of closeness to the original item. Show Me More can also be tuned to search for color or shape separately. A Show Me More button resides next to product images on the web site, and a browsing customer simply clicks the button to launch a search for like items.
Visually selective description engines, sensitive to specific details (color, texture, shape, spatial configuration, etc.) are used for extracting the visual signature of an image and the objects contained in it. Dedicated neural networks are integrated in the architecture of the system to provide improved accuracy in image description and indexing. Basically, the analyzer can learn object profiles, refine its sense of what an object looks like and therefore enrich its knowledge base. Show Me More uses a merchant's existing image and text records, and is available as an ASP model so it can be deployed in less than a week. Pricing includes a one-time setup fee and per-query fees with discounts offered over 200,000 queries per month.
