Online grocery model looks to succeed where Priceline failed
GroceryStreet.com, is a new online grocery service that gives independent grocers and national chains a way for customers to purchase groceries through the Internet. After the online purchase, customers` groceries are bagged and ready for pickup at a determined time and store. GroceryStreet.com lets customers purchase everything the store has on its shelves. Shoppers are also able to search for foods based on specific health concerns, such as diabetes or high cholesterol. GroceryStreet.com also offers enhanced features such as shopping by meal planners, recipes, nutritional information, specials, or more traditionally, by aisles, and the ability to save personalized shopping lists. GroceryStreet.com plans to launch additional sites in the coming weeks and will ultimately roll out a national effort.
