Netflix expands its distribution reach
Netflix Inc., the online distributor of movies on DVD, has opened two new distribution centers in Greensboro, NC, and Rochester, NY, the company reports. With the opening of the two centers, Netflix now can serve 80% of its customers with overnight delivery, the company says. Earlier this year, the company had set a goal of serving 70% of customers with overnight service.
The new facilities bring Netflix’s distribution centers to 22. The two new ones will serve 6 million households. Netflix’s distribution centers average 8,000 square feet. Netflix claims 1.5 million subscribers and 15,000 DVD titles.
