Epson Sets up Shop With BroadVision`s Enterprise Self-Service Applications
Online Orders Reduce Order Processing Costs by up to 66%
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - April 8, 2002 - BroadVision, Inc. (Nasdaq: BVSN), the leading provider of enterprise self-service applications, today announced that Epson America, Inc., a leader in high-quality, award-winning imaging products, is using BroadVision`s enterprise self-service applications—including BroadVision® Retail Commerce™ and BroadVision® Business Commerce™—to power its online commerce initiatives. Using BroadVision applications, Epson has improved customer satisfaction, leading to higher order values and has reduced the costs associated with processing orders.
Epson`s reseller commerce site, Epson Insider, serves thousands of direct and indirect resellers, information on Epson products and services including printers, providing them with detailed printer supplies, scanners, digital cameras, projectors and software. With BroadVision`s enterprise self-service technologies, Epson was able to add more value to the content and functionality of Epson Insider. Now, resellers are able to access up-to-date information on order status and shipments, collect and download detailed product information, and learn about current sales programs and policies. In turn, by providing resellers with a way to quickly and easily obtain the data they need, Epson America has significantly reduced some of its operating costs in this area.
Similar to Epson Insider, Epson`s consumer-oriented online store (www.epsonstore.com) offers information about all of Epson`s offerings. Epson reports that many of its imaging product customers first turn to the web to research product details before purchasing. After finding products on the site, customers can use the store`s integrated dealer referral feature to locate a local dealer or they can purchase items directly through the site.
All registered users, both resellers and consumers, can take advantage of personalized features including a "reorder list" for keeping track of frequently ordered supplies as well as real-time order status checking. Integration with Epson`s backend systems allows customers to see real-time inventory information for all Epson products.
With so many customers researching product details online, and because Epson introduces more than 250 new products each year, the ability to efficiently publish accurate product information on an almost daily basis is essential to Epson`s success. The Epson staff uses BroadVision`s integrated content management features to self-publish more than 80% of the information that appears on the site, including current product and pricing information.
"Epson`s BroadVision-powered online store is a convenient, self-service source for product information that increases Epson`s pre-sales influence on potential customers and helps to drive sales both online and through other channels," said Colin Donahoe, director of Internet marketing and e-commerce for Epson. "Processing orders online also represents a significant cost savings for the company. Our cost of processing orders online can be up to 66% less than those placed via phone or mail order."
"Epson`s cost saving and revenue enhancement results are typical of those experienced by companies that adopt enterprise self-service technologies," said Chris Grejtak, chief marketing officer for BroadVision. "We`re proud of the success that Epson has had with BroadVision applications and we look forward to helping them further increase efficiency as they continue to add more personalized features to the site."
