Buy.com answers Amazon with free shipping--and no minimum
Just a day after Amazon.com announced it is lowering its free shipping offer to purchases over $49 from the former $99, Buy.com has upped the ante. Today, Buy.com began offering free shipping with no minimum purchase.
Items that qualify for free shipping include books, music and electronics, among others, and are marked with Buy.com’s "free shipping icon"--a green and yellow delivery truck. Books, videos, DVDs, music and games will ship via Budget Shipping, while other items will have standard ground shipping, according to the Buy.com web site.
While the company did not provide comment by press time, its web site says the offer is for a limited time only and that Buy.com reserves the right end or change the offer any time. Amazon characterized its free shipping offer as a “long-term test” that is likely to last three to six months.
