Consumer e-commerce sales on Visa cards rise 44%
Online consumer sales on U.S.-based Visa cards rose 44.4% year-over-year for the week ended Dec. 14, to $2.01 billion from $1.43 billion, Visa reports.
The number of corresponding online consumer transactions for the same week rose 38.2% year-over-year, to 26,781,952 from 19,379,126, Visa said.
Online activity on U.S. Visa cards is also growing as a percent of overall Visa activity, Visa says. Online sales for the same week accounted for 8.7% of overall sales, up from 6.9% in the year-ago period; the number of e-commerce Visa card transactions accounted for 7.2% of overall transactions, up from 5.9% a year ago.
