on scalable, powerful, and reliable platforms
SAN DIEGO, April 23, 2002 - GERS Retail Systems, a leading provider of
business solutions for the retail industry, today announced a marketing
agreement with IBM to promote GERS` Electronic Retail Enterprise on the IBM
platform for its retail customers. GERS will support IBM`s WebSphere
Application Server and eServer pSeries as the preferred platforms for the
GERS application suite. By implementing GERS applications on these IBM
platforms, retailers will benefit from robust transaction management
applications for multi-channel retailing powered by powerful, reliable, and
scalable business servers.
Under the terms of the agreement, GERS will market and sell its Electronic
Retail Enterprise on the IBM WebSphere Application Server and eServer
pSeries platforms. The companies have established co-marketing programs,
campaigns, and educational seminars targeting midmarket retailers that
represent a range of vertical markets, including arts and crafts,
automotive, books and music, electronics, health and beauty, home
furnishings, specialty hardlines and softlines, sporting goods, and
wireless.
GERS currently provides business solutions to more than 300 retail
customers. The GERS Electronic Retail Enterprise includes transaction
management applications for multi-channel retailing, and is capable of
integrating the entire enterprise, from the consumer through the supply
chain. Additionally, GERS provides fully integrated corporate office
applications for merchandise planning and allocation, distribution center
management, analytics, and financial control.
"The agreement between GERS and IBM continues to strengthen our position
within this market space," said Jim Henderson, GERS` President and Chief
Executive Officer. "Our customers are already taking advantage of
applications that help them market, sell, and service their customers more
effectively through multiple channels, anytime, anywhere, and on any device.
Running our applications on an IBM platform will help our retail partners to
benefit from the scalability, reliability, and speed that IBM offers."
"GERS joins a select group of providers in IBM`s PartnerWorld for Developers
program who offer their applications on IBM`s leading edge software and
server platforms," said Gail Stremlo, IBM SMB Retail Segment Executive. "We
look forward to working with GERS to provide retailers a robust and scalable
solution to address customer requirements."
