Jewelry and luxury good sites experience 39% growth in November


Retail jewelry, luxury goods and accessories sites experienced the fastest growth among retail sites in November, with visits increasing 39% from October to 16.4 million, according to comScore Media Metrix. Coach.com had 2.71 million visitors and Zales.com, 1.72 million.

Food sites experienced the second largest growth among online retailers, with visits increasing 22% from October to 15.8 million. Williams-Sonoma.com recorded 1.9 million visitors, up 64% from October, finishing first in the category. OmahaSteaks.com, had 1.5 million visitors, a 152% increase from October, finishing second among the food sites, followed by Cooking.com, which had 1.5 million visitors, a 68% increase from October.

The department stores category experienced a 21% increase from October to 62.1 million visitors, due in large part to multi-channel retailers, comScore said. Wal-Mart.com led the category with 32.1 million visitors, up 54% from October. Target Corp. experienced a 25% increase to 27.3 million visitors while JCPenney sites had a 35% increase to 14.8 million visitors. Sears.com posted a 42% increase from October, with 12.1 million visitors.
