E-commerce spending on Visa branded cards in the U.S. rose 36.1% year-over-year to $3.7 billion for the week ending Dec. 18, according to Visa U.S.A.’s Holiday SpendTrak report. Visa processed 45 million transactions, up 34.1% from the same period in 2004. The average ticket was $81.27.
Online purchases accounted for 11% of the $33 billion in total spending on all Visa cards for the week and about 8% of total transactions of 551 million. Total spending was up 14.5% year over year while total transactions were up 14.5%. The average ticket for all spending was $59.86.
E-commerce spending between Oct. 31 and Dec. 18 totaled $21.3 billion, representing 11% of total spending of $200.2 billion for the period.
