RealNetworks launches digital music store with latest RealPlayer
To celebrate its tenth anniversary, RealNetworks Inc. today joined the crowded digital music business with the release of the latest version of its RealPlayer media player integrated with its first digital music store.
RealNetworks will promote its new offerings for the next 10 days by offering customers their first song download for 10 cents. Regular pricing is comparable to common industry pricing for digital music at 99 cents per individual song and $9.99 for most albums.
The RealPlayer Music Store is powered by the Rhapsody digital music service and is expected to provide access to 400,000 music tracks by the end of this month. The music store comes integrated with RealPlayer10, which itself is available for a free download today at www.real.com.
"To celebrate the power of 10, and to thank the hundreds of millions of customers who have helped make RealPlayer the leading independent media player, we`re proud to kick off the promotion of RealPlayer 10, the best media player ever, with the first of many 10-themed campaigns," said Dan Sheeran, senior vice president of marketing.
