Acxiom(r) to integrate Return Path ECOA into InfoBase(r) eProduct offerings
-- Agreement between firms helps marketers reconnect with lost online customers --
New York, May 7, 2002-- Return Path, Inc., the leading provider of e-mail change of address services, and Acxiom(r), the industry leader in customer and information management solutions, today announced the integration of Return Path ECOA into Acxiom`s InfoBase(r) eProduct offerings, enabling Acxiom clients to reconnect with customers who have changed their e-mail address.
"As many Acxiom clients have quickly recognized, the customer e-mail address is a perishable asset," said John Ripa, InfoBase eProducts product leader. "With the addition of Return Path ECOA to our eProduct offerings, we can help marketers acquire e-mail addresses for their customers, and help them update and maintain those addresses over time."
Return Path ECOA offers businesses an easy way to reconnect with customers who have changed their e-mail address, while helping consumers ensure they can be located at a new address, in a permission-based manner. More than 120 companies use Return Path services, among them Illuminations, Meredith Corporation, Omaha Steaks and Sharper Image. More than 6 million consumer-registered e-mail address changes have been submitted to Return Path`s ECOA database, with 1,000,000 added monthly. Return Path is also the e-mail change of address service for the United States Postal Service`s online moving portal.
"We`re seeing companies continue to increase budget allocations for acquiring customer e-mail addresses, using solutions such as Acxiom`s InfoBase email Enhancement," said Matt Blumberg, Return Path chief executive officer. "By integrating Return Path ECOA into Acxiom`s eProduct offerings, marketers now have a cost-effective solution to combat e-mail address decay rates and preserve their investment in this important new customer contact point."
According to a study by NFO World Group, 32 percent of e-mail users change their e-mail address each year, because of a job change or a change of ISP. For businesses that rely on e-mail to communicate with customers for marketing, billing, customer service or content delivery, e-mail address churn represents a significant cost and a threat to Customer Relationship Management (CRM) efforts.
