LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. May 15, 2002 - UCCnet, a tax-exempt, neutral organization that provides item registry and data synchronization services based on industry developed standards announced today that IBM [NYSE: IBM] has become a preferred member of UCCnet`s PARTNERS IN SYNC Program. IBM will provide its industry leading WebSphere Business Integration software to members of the UCCnet community, enabling trading partners to connect to UCCnet`s Foundation Services and utilize current, accurate product data in communicating with trading partners.

UCCnet`s Alliance Partner Program enables solution providers to supply integrated collaborative commerce solutions to the rapidly expanding UCCnet community. The program certifies solution providers to provide best-in-class knowledge, resources and tools that enable UCCnet subscribers to implement item registry and data synchronization services quickly, efficiently and cost effectively.

IBM is UCCnet certified for its WebSphere Business Integration software package for UCCnet Foundation Services 2.0. The WebSphere software provides UCCnet trading partners with software for performing transactions, integrating applications and coordinating workflow, processes and messages for item, party or location information.

"We are confident IBM`s software will be a driving force in enabling industry to connect with UCCnet," said Fred Geiger, Senior Vice President, Product Management for UCCnet. "The combination of UCCnet services and IBM`s WebSphere Business Integration products will provide UCCnet users with a proven methodology for connecting to and reaping the business efficiencies of our services."

UCCnet`s item registry and data synchronization services provide an open repository for item, location and trading partner capabilities and enable suppliers to communicate new or changed product data, ensuring that all trading partners are using identical, accurate and standardized item information. UCCnet users are able to considerably reduce errant purchase orders, returned shipments, reductions, logistics systems errors and associated costs throughout the supply chain. UCCnet services help retailers ensure they have the right products at the right retail locations at the right time, and enable suppliers to decrease deductions and improve speed to market for new products.

"Integrating business processes across trading partners offers the potential for significant cost savings. As a UCCnet partner, IBM’s WebSphere Business Integration software combined with the UCCnet service will provide an effective, easy connection to enable trading partners to begin reaping these benefits."
