Barnes & Noble names a new vice president of author relations

Barnes & Noble Inc. is naming one of its veteran e-commerce managers to a newly created position. The company has named Brenda Marsh as vice president of author relations. In her new role, Marsh will be responsible for creating new author programs and initiatives for both stores and BarnesandNoble.com, No. 23 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites.

Marsh joined BarnesandNoble.com in 1998 as vice president of merchandising. She currently serves as vice president of content and merchandising for the book retailer’s e-commerce unit. While at BarnesandNoble.com, Marsh oversaw the development of “Meet the Writers,” an online feature that profiles over 600 authors. She also developed an online reading group and helped to launch “What America’s Reading,” an interactive feature that provides hourly, daily and weekly updates on best-selling books.
