Pier 1 Q3 web sales up 54%

E-commerce sales for Pier 1 Imports Inc. grew 54% in the third quarter to $3.7 million from $2.4 million while total sales declined 2.3% to $476.2 million in Q3 2005 from $487.7 million from a year earlier.

Web sales are growing as Pier 1, No. 299 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, as the multi-channel retailer continues to invest in e-commerce and direct marketing. For instance, Pier 1 distributed approximately 2 million catalogs to its U.S. markets last fall and posted interactive editions on Pier1.com.
