EBay Inc. this week launched a multi-channel promotion in conjunction with the new public television program “Real Moms, Real Stories, Real Savvy” in which shoppers can win room makeovers for their children.
EBay announced the contest, which began Jan. 9, in an e-mail sent to registered eBay users, a spokeswoman says. The Real Savvy Mom’s Baby Dream Room Contest also is being promoted at babyebay.com and at www.realsavvymoms.com as well as through a limited TV and print media campaign.
In the contest, mothers are asked to submit essays of up to 250 words on how to create “a fun, kid-inspiring environment” using items purchased only on eBay. Contestants also must provide a picture of the room they plan to remodel. All entries must be submitted by Jan. 22.
Two finalists will be selected in three categories—Dream Nursery, Dream Toddler Room and Ideal PlayRoom”—and will be awarded $2,500 in PayPal dollars to purchase items on eBay to remodel the rooms by March 31. Pictures of the room makeovers will be posted on the eBay community voting site for final judging by eBay members. The grand prize—a five day/four night trip for four to Orlando, Fla.—will be announced May 1.
