Target rolls out system to allow 280,00 employees to perform self-service,

Target Corp. has selected Workscape Inc., a provider of Internet-based human resource management software and services, to provide an on-premise HR self-service software solution to its 281,000 employees at more than 1,300 locations nationwide. "Workscape's platform will help us connect our employees across offices and retail stores in 46 states, as well as streamlining the activities of our human resources departments who serve employees at Target, Mervyn's and Marshall Field's stores across the country," Chris Portinga, senior manager, HR development, Target, said. "The Workscape solution offers a comprehensive HR product set that allows our employees secure access to valued HR information and services." Target will implement the program in two phases.

"In the current environment, only software solutions with real economic savings and strategic value are being deployed," Tim Clifford, president and co-CEO, Workscape, said. "By integrating Workscape software and services, Target will reduce its HR administrative costs and provide expanded services and value to the organization by focusing on aligning human resources activities with its business strategies."
