QRS Streamlines Saks` Trading Network to Enhance Global Supply Chain Efficiency
Saks Extends Use of QRS Solutions to Manage and Expand Trading Community
RICHMOND, CA, June 5, 2002-- QRS Corporation, the leading provider of adaptive commerce solutions for the
extended supply chain, announced today that Saks Incorporated has
extended its exclusive agreement with QRS to enhance the leading department
store operator`s e-commerce initiative. Saks will use QRS Exchange and QRS
Catalogue solutions to simplify the expansion of Saks` trading partner
community and improve process efficiency across its entire commerce network.
With this agreement, Saks, a QRS customer since 1990, reaffirms its
commitment to QRS as its preferred, value-added service provider for
communication with all trading partners, large and small. Saks` e-commerce
initiative was implemented to ensure that all trading partners electronically
exchange data and documents, including product information, purchase orders,
ship notices and invoices. The expanded initiative is expected to result in
additional cost savings for the company by increasing the speed and accuracy
of transactions between Saks and its estimated 7,400 unique, active trading
partners.
Saks cited several reasons for its continued use of QRS Catalogue and QRS
Exchange, including the Data Exchange, Web Forms and Managed EC modules.
First, QRS Exchange supports the largest retail industry trading partner
network. Through economies of scale and scope, retail industry customers
realize benefits and rapid return on investment with easier network set-up and
lower maintenance costs.
Second, QRS Exchange supports all vendors, regardless of size, technology,
standards or communication preferences. Smaller vendors that lack their own
electronic data interchange (EDI) infrastructure can comply with retailers`
electronic commerce requirements through QRS` Web Forms, an Internet-based
data translation service, and QRS Managed EC, an EDI-to-fax service. Data
Exchange, the product most widely used by both Saks and its trading partners,
is an electronic mailbox service that translates information from standard-
format EDI to free-format.
Finally, QRS Catalogue is the retail industry`s largest and most widely
used product data synchronization and management application. Together, these
retail supply chain solutions provide customer savings through extensive
connectivity, speed and information accuracy.
