FTD reports Q2 web sales of $56.5 million
E-commerce revenue at FTD Group Inc. totaled $56.5 million for the second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2005, representing about 52% of total revenue, the company reported today. Total revenue grew 1% to $109.2 million from $108.3 million a year earlier.
FTD, No. 44 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, reports its web revenue as part of its Consumer Business Segment, which is comprised of FTD.com and toll-free telephone sales. It said the web accounted for 89.3% of Q2 orders, up from 85% in the year-ago quarter. The Consumer Business Segment had an average order size of $59.33, down from $60.31 a year ago.
Consumer orders during the second quarter totaled 1.1 million, compared with 1 million a year earlier.
“As previously announced, the Consumer Business’s order growth for the 2005 Christmas season was below expectations due to our decision not to pursue high-cost order volume associated with online search,” said Michael J. Soenen, president and CEO. “In anticipation of continued competitiveness in the online search environment and to better manage the Consumer Segment business going forward, we have made management changes within this segment, including the replacement of our head of marketing.”
