Second quarter web sales grow 24% at 1-800-Flowers.com
Online sales at 1-800-Flowers.com Inc. totaled $133.4 million for the second quarter of the 2006 fiscal year, up 24% from $107.7 million a year earlier. Overall, the web accounted for 48% of total revenues of $277.8 million, versus 47% of total sales of $230 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2005.
“Our growth during the quarter reflects the success of our strategy to deepen our gift offering, particularly in the food, wine, and gift basket category where we have already become a major player with revenues anticipated to be more than $100 million for the current fiscal year,” said Jim McCann, CEO.
During the first quarter, 1-800-Flowers attracted 760,000 new online customers, who accounted for 58% of all new customer traffic. More than 2.7 million customers placed orders during the second quarter, of which 51% were repeat customers.
