Consumers are not backing off on their online spending in the New Year, comScore Networks Inc. reports. For the week ending Jan. 8, consumer online spending increased 35% over the corresponding week a year earlier, reaching $1.89 billion from $1.4 billion.
By comparison, ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate reports that total retail sales grew 4.6% for the week ending Jan. 7 compared to the comparable week a year ago.
Online travel sales for the week ending Jan. 8 reached $1.19 billion, up 4% from $1.15 billion in the corresponding week a year ago, comScore reports.
