Toronto-based Roots gets 20% boost in online sales

Toronto-based Roots Canada Limited is getting a 15-20% boost on online sales to U.S. consumers, along with 25% increase in web traffic, due to its sales of official licensed apparel for the U.S. Olympic Team, the retailer says.

Roots, which also sells to consumers in Taiwan as well as Canada, is also experiencing a general year-over-year rise in international sales, a spokesman says. Roots sells in the U.S. through its Roots-Direct.com, in Canada through a partnership with Sears Canada on Sears.ca, and in Taiwan through its Roots.com.tw, which is powered by Taipei City, Taiwan-based i4uuu Group.

Roots operates Roots-Direct.com on an e-commerce platform provided by PFSweb Inc., including web-hosting, order management, fulfillment and customer service.

"We have an extremely scalable and robust e-commerce solution that allows us to take advantage of the global reach in support of the U.S. Olympic Team," said Michael Budman, co-founder of Roots.
