A new guide holds online music sites up for scrutiny
Retailers in the music business may find their offerings coming under greater scrutiny. CMP Technology’s Contentinople.com, a new interactive community web site focusing on the digital media market, has published The Digital Music Storefront Guide comparing more than 50 web sites that allow consumers to download music.
The company says the guide’s interactive approach allows registered users to rate and review the sites, generating a community ranking. It includes dynamic database technology that allows users to sort music storefront by a number of categories, including community rating, genre, compression, price, format, download method and Digital Rights Management technology.
Contentinople was launched in June and employs a full-time staff of editors and bloggers who will be providing daily opinion, news, and research on developments in the digital content market. The site also functions as a community for digital media enthusiasts who can review and rate content on the site.
The guide will reside at contentinople.com/proddir/. “The guide aims to be the definitive directory of commercial online music operations, giving details on the features and positioning of each music storefront web site,” the company says.
