Security tester NSS Labs relocates to the United States

NSS Labs, which provides security and certification testing to technology vendors, has relocated to the United States from the United Kingdom. The company will operate out of offices in San Diego and Chicago.

Vikram “Vik” Phatak will be chairman and CEO. He most recently served as chief technology officer at Ambiron TrustWave, a security company that specializes in compliance with the PCI standards for payment card security. Matt Harrigan, former vice president of consulting services at Ambiron TrustWave, will serve as president and take responsibility for PCI and compliance work at NSS.

The chief marketing officer will be Rick Moy who comes from ESET, a provider of anti-virus software. NSS founder Bob Walder remains as chief scientist. Christian Stankevitz, former director of lab services at network security specialist Neohapsis,joins NSS as chief technology officer. Jeffrey Singman, formerly of GE Capital Equity Group and NBC/GE, will be chief operating officer.

“We are pleased to bring NSS Labs’ highly respected testing and certification practice closer to our customers in the robust North American information security vendor market,” Phatak says.
