Web sales in the second quarter of 2007 were $588.9 million for CDW Corp., representing a 19.3% increase compared to $493.5 million in Q2 2006. The Internet comprised 31.3% of the multi-channel technology sales and service company’s total sales of $2 billion, excluding those from Berbee Information Networks.
Total sales of $2.03 billion were up 24.4% year-over-year and gross profit was $328 million, up 24.2% compared to the Q2 2006.
CDW, No. 8 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, completed the acquisition of Berbee in October 2006. Total sales for Q2 of 2006 do not include Berbee sales, but the second quarter of overall 2007 sales does. Berbee sales do not affect web results because it does not sell online.
Product categories with the strongest year-over-year unit volume growth for the second quarter of 2007 were notebook computers, desktop computers, data storage, software and video. Product categories exclude Berbee sales.
In the second quarter of 2007, CDW recorded $8 million in pre-tax costs associated with the announcement of CDW’s acquisition by VH Holdings Inc. VH Holdings will be controlled by investment funds affiliated with Madison Dearborn Partners LLC and Providence Equity Partners Inc. on closing.
