BlueLight starts an electronic order program with suppliers

Kmart Corp.’s BlueLight.com e-commerce operation has begun exchanging electronic orders from its web site with suppliers, the company reported today. CommerceHub completed implementation of a vendor-direct supply chain network system for BlueLight in less than 30 days, Kmart said. "We are impressed by CommerceHub`s ability to deliver on the promise of supply chain collaboration," said Brian Sugar, chief web officer of BlueLight.com. "CommerceHub`s unique support for drop-ship fulfillment is enabling us to rapidly expand our product offerings without adding to our inventory-risk. We expect to see significant returns from this relationship in the forms of enhanced customer service, streamlined fulfillment and reduced operating expenses."

CommerceHub built the BlueLight system on CommerceHub`s pre-built infrastructure and its proprietary data translation platform. "BlueLight understands the financial advantages of outsourcing fulfillment on certain merchandise, relying on top-flight suppliers to provide shipments directly to their customers,” said Frank Poore, president and CEO of CommerceHub. CommerceHub is a provider of hosted supply chain services for business-to-business and business-to-consumer merchandisers.
