Global Sports signs deal to do NFL team sites

King of Prussia, Pa.-based Global Sports Inc., operator of sporting goods web sites, has a new partnership with Ignite Sports Media, an interactive sports solutions provider, to develop and operate the e-commerce web stores for the NFL’s Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers official web sites. Ignite Sports Media has operated the two teams’ web sites since August 2000. The new sites launched this month and include links to the Global Sports-run web stores for each team. The new stores, www.detroitlions.com and www.panthers.com. feature licensed team merchandise, related sporting goods and tailgating gear. Global Sports operates 14 other web stores, including The Athlete’s Foot, The Sports Authority and Fogdog.com.
