800.com buys assets of competitors
Consumer electronics retailer 800.com has acquired the assets of Roxy.com,
another consumer electronics sites, and Everything Wireless, a direct
marketer of wireless products. The companies did not release financial terms
of the deal. Under the agreement, 800.com will have all rights to the
two companies’ URLs, database of 800,000 names, and catalog and
creative assets. The acquisition also marks 800.com’s entrance into the wireless
phone market. The company says it expects the acquisitions to have an
immediate impact on revenue and gross margins. 800.com offers more than
200,000 products, including electronics, movies and music.
