Meals.com releases results and reorganizes
Coinstar Inc. subsidiary Meals.com, a company that uses a web site and
in-store technologies to give shoppers recipe information and other offers
to increase sales for supermarket retailers and consumer
packaged goods brands, is reorganizing its business. The company is cutting
31 jobs at its Bellevue, Wash., headquarters to cut costs. “The
reorganization is the best way to manage our cash going forward and will
help ensure that we can deliver our system to the industry,” Mark Seals,
COO, said.
Last week, Meals.com also reported that its
Shopper in-store kiosks are increasing sales in supermarkets by 1%. The Shopper kiosks—which are installed in 27 Ukrop’s Super Markets Inc. in Richmond, Va.—also help increase coupon
redemption rates up to 35%, according to a recent “Store of the Future”
campaign that involved three packaged goods manufacturers. Meals.com
supports online efforts for The Kroger Co., Albertson’s, Giant Eagle,
Schnucks, Harris Teeter and others totaling 4,300 stores. Packaged goods marketing partners include Nestle and Smuckers, among others.
