Barnes & Noble.com has named Marie J. Toulantis as president and chief operating officer, a new position. She has been chief financial officer of Barnes & Noble.com since April 1999. In her new position, she assumes responsibility for merchandising, marketing, engineering and product development for the company. She continues to have responsibility for the company's finance, investor relations, corporate communications, human resources and other administrative functions.
Toulantis joined Barnes & Noble in 1997 as CFO. She later joined the online division and oversaw the company's initial public offering in May 1999 that raised $486 million.
