Online spending up 17% for week ending Feb. 5
Online sales were up 17% in the fifth week of the year over a year ago, reaching $1.78 billion for the week ending Feb. 5 from $1.52 billion a year earlier, comScore Networks Inc. reports. Online spending grew at 30%+ in the first three weeks of the year and 23% in the fourth week.
By comparison, ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate reports that total retail sales grew a healthy 8.1% for the week ending Feb. 4 compared to the comparable week a year ago.
Online travel sales for the week ending Feb. 5 reached $1.28 billion, up 15% from $1.12 billion in the corresponding week a year ago, comScore reports.
