UPS buys multi-carrier shipping service
Stamps.com has sold its iShip multi-carrier shipping service to UPS. The transaction is part of Stamps.com’s strategy announced last month to
focus the company`s attention on its core mailing and shipping services for
small business and home offices. UPS was interested in the service because its Mail Boxes Etc. subsidiary already uses the multi-carrier service and UPS wants to make sure the service will continue uninterrupted. In addition, owning the service allows UPS to customize and enhance it to UPS’ own needs, a spokesman says.
iShip uses a web-based application to find the most expedient way to ship an order.
