ReturnBuy reaches agreement to sell returned goods on eBay

ReturnBuy Inc., a provider of returns services for merchants, and eBay have created a strategic alliance under which ReturnBuy will offer returned and overstock goods for sale on eBay, the companies announced today. ReturnBuy also completed the integration with eBay`s Application Program Interface that allows the two companies to instantly exchange data through a secure and private communication hotline. eBay participated in ReturnBuy`s $15 million second-round funding that was completed mid-March.

ReturnBuy says that reselling products through online channels enables ReturnBuy to recoup three to five times more value for its retailer clients than through traditional liquidation.

ReturnBuy’s integration with eBay`s Application Program Interface enables eBay to update sections of the listings including callout, galleries and minimum reserve prices; and allows ReturnBuy to post new products, merchandise closings and feedback for improved customer service.

ReturnBuy is the first company to use technology to create new dynamics for the returns and overstock markets, eBay says. With the ReturnBuy system, merchandise is sent directly to a ReturnBuy processing facility, where it is evaluated, merchandised and sold through a variety of online and offline resale channels. ReturnBuy serves over 15 clients, including Egghead.com, an Internet marketer of technology and related products, as well as clients in traditional retail, as well as distributors and manufacturers.
