Avenue.com’s sales grow 120% year-over-year
Net sales at United Retail Group Inc.’s Avenue.com, a retailer of plus-size women’s apparel and accessories, rose 120% year-over-year for the fiscal year ended Jan. 28, as comp store sales rose 12% and total sales increased 10% to $438.7 million, the company said.
The growth rate of online sales picked up even more in the fiscal fourth quarter, rising 137% year-over-year as comp store sales increased 12% and total sales increased 11%, United Retail said.
"Online sales continued to grow at a fast pace during this quarter and year, principally from a greater number of active customers and a resulting increase in transactions," president, CEO and chairman Raphael Benaroya said.
February online sales continued to grow at a rate of 87% year-over-year, as total sales decreased 2% to $29.3 million and comp store sales declined 1%.
United Retail Group, No. 345 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, operates 500 Avenue stores in addition to Avenue.com. It also refers to its online unit as its Shop @ Home business.
