Audible turns up the revenue volume by 36% compared with Q2 2006

Audible Inc., a web-only retailer specializing in spoken audio entertainment, information and educational programming, reports consolidated second quarter net revenue of $25.9 million, up 36% compared with $19.1 million reported in the second quarter of 2006 and up 3% over $25.3 million in the first quarter of 2007.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose to $2.1 million for the second quarter ending June 30, up from $113,000 EBITDA reported in the second quarter of 2006 and $1 million in the first quarter of 2007. Net loss for the second quarter of 2007 was $125,000, a decrease from the net loss of $2.2 million reported in the second quarter of 2006, and $1.2 million in the first quarter of 2007.

During the quarter, Audible, which is No. 125 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, acquired about 56,000 new AudibleListener members, the company says. There were nearly 431,000 members at the end of the quarter, an increase of 39% compared to 309,000 at the end of second quarter of 2006.

“During the second quarter of 2007 our continued focus on acquiring higher value AudibleListener members produced stellar results. We served them with superior listening, while offering targeted customer communications and consistent customer support,” says Donald Katz, chairman and CEO.
