First Wave Announces New Version of Kiosk Communicator
Industry-leading Kiosk Development Software Features Significant Enhancements
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.-March 22, 2001-First Wave, Inc., the worldıs leading provider of interactive multimedia kiosks, today announced the release of Kiosk Communicator 2.5, the latest version of the companyıs proprietary kiosk development software. The product will begin shipping in April.
Kiosk Communicator dynamically interprets and delivers multimedia content, such as digital movie files, Flash animations, images, music, voice and text. It can accept input from a variety of devices including built-in customized keyboards designed specifically for touchscreens, credit card readers, barcode scanners, IR sensors and, with this latest version, smart card readers and bill acceptors.
"Kiosk Communicator 2.5 brings even greater functionality to the kiosk development process," said John Glitsos, founder and CEO of First Wave. "Most importantly, data transmission security has been enhanced and robust monitoring capabilities have been added."
Featuring more than 60 enhancements, version 2.5 includes credit card encryption for transmission over telephone lines or the Internet, and remote monitoring capabilities that make it possible to access all the vital statistics of the kiosk 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Additionally, the ability to generate a serial number and increment it has been added so a kiosk can now dispense uniquely-numbered gift certificates or coupons.
Version 2.5 also brings enhanced database functionality featuring tighter integration and added data exchange capabilities to facilitate data export to almost any database or spreadsheet. Additionally, dynamic database menu selection enables rapid database search and retrieval for virtual inventory applications.
Kiosk Communicator 2.5 allows users to easily create and update interactive multimedia displays, dynamic signs, information kiosks, product displays, gift registries, purchase advisors and other kiosk-based applications. It can be used to build a prototype in minutes, using pre-configured graphic elements, or a finished system, which looks and feels like a custom-programmed solution, in a matter of days.
