The torrid pace of 2006’s online spending growth has cooled in the past couple of weeks, with online sales up 11% in the sixth week of the year over a year ago, reaching $1.74 billion for the week ending Feb. 12 from $1.56 billion a year earlier, comScore Networks Inc. reports. Online spending grew at 30%+ in the first three weeks of the year, 23% in the fourth week and 17% in the fifth week.
By comparison, ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate reports that total retail sales grew a 5.5% for the week ending Feb. 11 compared to the comparable week a year ago.
Online travel sales for the week ending Feb. 12 reached $1.29 billion, up 14% from $1.13 billion in the corresponding week a year ago, comScore reports.
