Drugstore.com introduces an automatic shipment program

Drugstore.com today launched a program that enables consumers to set up automatic shipments of frequently ordered products. Under the auto-delivery program, consumers can have items such as vitamins or skin care products automatically sent to them every 30, 45, 60 or 90 days.

Customers also can use the program as a reminder to replenish products that have a limited shelf life, such as mascara and vitamins.

“Many of our customers buy the same products often and have asked us to help them avoid running out,” said Jonathan Tinter, chief marketing officer. “The auto-delivery program addresses these needs.”

Initially, more than 40 popular products of the web store will be offered through the program, with additional products to be added. Drugstore.com, No.28 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, chose products such as nutritional supplements and skin care products that are frequently used as part of a regimen or should be replaced regularly, Tinter says.

Shipping for auto-delivery items is free if the product costs more than $49. Other items may be shipped for $1.99, a discount from the regular $5.99 shipping price. Customers are billed at the time of shipment.
