Online spending up 12% for week ending Feb. 19
Growth of online retail sales has definitely slowed down. Online sales were up 12% for the week ending Feb. 19, reaching $1.81 billion from $1.61 billion in the corresponding week a year ago, comScore Networks Inc. reports. It was the third week in a row that growth has been significantly below historical standards (11% the week before and 17% the week before that) after growing at 30%+ the first three weeks of the year.
By comparison, ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate reports that total retail sales fell 0.8% for the week ending Feb. 18 compared to the comparable week a year ago.
Online travel sales for the week ending Feb. 19 fell 10% to $1.2 billion from $1.33 billion in the corresponding week a year ago, comScore reports.
